Eight towns surround Disneyland Paris, and they are not interchangeable: prices, transport and atmosphere change completely within 10 kilometres. I have lived in this area since 2004 — here is my honest comparison, with prices observed in July 2026.
The comparison table (July 2026)
| Town | Distance to parks | Best transport | Budget/night | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chessy | Walking distance (gare area) | On foot / 1 RER stop | €100-1000+ | Zero-logistics stays, Disney hotels |
| Val d’Europe (Serris) | 1 RER stop (5 min) | RER A | €75-200 | No car, kitchen, shopping |
| Magny-le-Hongre | ~3 km | Free hotel shuttles | €55-180 | Families, themed hotels, pools |
| Montévrain | ~4 km | RER (1 stop) or car | €65-150 | Quiet, budget, rentals |
| Bailly-Romainvilliers | ~5 km | Car (or paid shuttle) | €100-290 | Nature, cottages, Villages Nature |
| Chanteloup-en-Brie | ~6 km (10 min drive) | Car + RER park-and-ride | €100-160 | Village calm, 6-person rentals |
| Bussy-Saint-Georges | 3 RER stops (~8 min) | RER A (also direct to Paris) | €39-160 | Weekend bargains, Paris day trips |
| Lagny / around | ~8 km | Car | €70-140 | Charm, normal-priced restaurants |
My three profiles, my three answers
No car? Val d’Europe, full stop. One RER stop, everything on foot, aparthotels with kitchens. Family with kids under 10? Magny-le-Hongre: themed hotels, pools, free shuttles — the village was built for you. Group of 5-6 or a week-long stay? A rental in Chanteloup-en-Brie or Montévrain at ~€25 per person: kitchen, parking, silence — and use the Val d’Europe RER park-and-ride to skip the €30 Disney parking.
The mistakes I see visitors make
Booking “Chessy” without checking the map: the old village is 25 minutes on foot from the gates, the station district 5-10. Paying weekend rates in Magny when Bussy business hotels are slashing theirs. Ignoring the total cost: a €90 room plus €30 parking plus €80 of park meals often loses to a €150 apartment with a kitchen.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best area to stay near Disneyland Paris without a car?
Val d’Europe: one RER stop from the park (5 minutes, trains every 10 minutes), a shopping mall, restaurants and modern aparthotels — no shuttle timetable to think about.
Which town has the cheapest hotels?
Bussy-Saint-Georges, especially on weekends when its business hotels drop prices — from €39 at Première Classe. See my full ranking of cheap hotels for details.
